Climate change

This week for reading we are doing climate change we had to read some articles about climate changes this is a worksheet i have done.

WALT: Read a text and take notes

Read the article ‘Climate Change’. Write 10 new facts that you have learnt.

New Facts:

Climate change also means more frequent droughts and wildfires, melting ice sheets, melting glacier  and flooding

The high level of greenhouse gases already

in the atmosphere will stay there for thousands of years

Agriculture is another source of greenhouse gases

They are worried that the sea levels will get higher

Ice sheets are melting really fast

Fox glasser is almost gone

In 10 years new zealand could go under

We can't stop climate change completely

In New Zealand most of our methane comes from sheep and cattle as they digest grass

As water gets warmer it expands and takes up more space which is one reason the sea is rising

What is the greenhouse effect? Write a definition in your own words.

The Greenhouse effect on climate change is that the greenhouse traps heat close to the surface of the earth. When the greenhouse traps the heat and gases, they could be thought of as a blanket wrapped around the earth which keeps it warmer than it would be without the heat blanket.

What causes climate change? Write your thoughts here.
The main causes of climate change are the increase of fossil fuels like coal , oil and gas to generate electricity to run cars and other forms of transportation and power manufacturing because living trees absorb and store carbon dioxide.
